Trust and Friendship.....you gotta have 'em

Until I started my relationship with my boyfriend, I had not 'been in a relationship' for many years. I had dated and gone out with guys but never did it last to the level of being in a relationship and by default in these times requiring a Facebook status change! So I was extremely out of practice at this whole relationship thing, I was used to relying on myself, keeping the barriers up just enough to not get hurt and all that goes along with being single in this day and age.

Over the past nine months I have learned so much, how amazing it actually is to truly share your life with someone, to be in an equal partnership and most of all to infinitely trust someone else with my heart. I'm not saying it has been easy and that there hasn't been some 'hurdles', for a long time I would try keep the 'crazy' thoughts inside and there was a patch there where I was expecting my little dream of a relationship to fall apart because it was just too good.

Here and now I can proclaim, I trust my boyfriend infinitely. I have learned to accept that he just loves me, in the words of Mark Darcy 'just as you are', which to me and my inner monologue (which I can tell you keeps me endlessly entertained with the constant rambling) sometimes just don't get but he does. He is considerate and loving and kind and funny and is really my very best friend in the world. So I have the man I always dreamed about and he is even better than in my dreams.

To have trust and friendship as the base of our relationship I feel blessed. To make it in this world where 1 out of every 2 marriages end in divorce I think that they are the two best characteristics to have on your side and at least when the times are tough you can laugh and talk to your best friend as well as your partner!
